**Geotrencher: Revolutionizing Trenching in Australia**
At Geotrencher, we are not just a business; we are David and Olivia McNabb, former dryland farmers from the sun-soaked region of Mildura, situated on the picturesque banks of the Murray River. Our journey into the world of mini trenchers is a testament to our dedication and commitment to providing innovative solutions in the Australian market.
Our love for mini trenchers ignited many years ago, fueled by a passion for enhancing efficiency in a multitude of industries. It wasn’t until 2022 that we made a pivotal connection with the mastermind behind this ingenious product. Since then, we have proudly assumed the role of sole distributors and the go-to experts for Geotrencher in Australia.
Our backgrounds in farm water management, irrigation practices, property renovation, and the telecommunications industry have given us a unique perspective. We’ve witnessed the diverse needs of these industries and recognized the inherent potential of the Geotrencher for revolutionizing trenching practices across the board.
The heart and soul of the Geotrencher lie in its New Zealand-based design, crafted by the accomplished engineer, Mike Smith. With over 25 years of experience in developing, manufacturing, and improving trencher attachments, Mike Smith’s expertise is unparalleled in the industry.
The Geotrencher’s journey began in 2014 with the establishment of “GR Manufacturing,” a venture co-founded by Mike Smith and an American partner. Together, they conceptualized and brought to life the GeoRipper®, a mini trencher boasting power disc cutters. This groundbreaking innovation addressed the challenges users had encountered with traditional chainsaw-based trenchers.
The decision to transition from chainsaw engines to power disc cutter engines was a game-changer. A comparison revealed that chainsaw chains were designed to periodically run at approximately 13,000 RPM, while disc cutters were engineered to operate continuously at 9,500 RPM. Moreover, the abrasive nature of ground dust resembled concrete dust, making power disc cutters the superior choice. The air filtration systems in disc cutters were purpose-built to tackle concrete dust, far more efficient than their chainsaw counterparts. These advantages, combined with the drive reduction system, drastically reduced maintenance work, making power disc cutter engines the logical choice.
In 2018, the GeoRipper® journeyed to Europe, where it began to accumulate awards and pique the interest of major telecom companies, as well as landscaping and irrigation specialists. The recognition affirmed its significance and potential for transforming trenching practices on a global scale.
In 2021, the product took a new name, GeoTrencher®, aligning with CE & UKCA regulations and representing a more fitting direction for our clientele worldwide. The evolution did not stop there. That same year, we introduced additional models compatible with Stihl® branded powerheads, including the TS420 and TS500i, further expanding our offerings alongside Husqvarna and Makita models.
But our journey isn’t limited to the present. We have ventured into the world of battery-powered portable trenchers, currently in the pre-production trial phase. The future is bright, and Geotrencher is committed to staying at the forefront of innovation.
Stay tuned for exciting updates as we continue to lead the charge in revolutionizing trenching practices in Australia and beyond. Geotrencher is not just a brand; it’s a promise of efficiency, quality, and excellence.
